The government, the recession and the miserable bastards who complain about them both

I'm sorry, but I feel well within my rights to have a bit of a bloody rant here. I'm sat watching the local news for Yorkshire and listening to countless people complaining about the cuts that have to be made within the council; it's down to a 'bloody Conservative government' says my mother - hang on a second, let me please tell you what is wrong with that. Firstly, this would've happened next year under a Labour government, it's just that Cameron felt it better to reduce the deficit now rather Continue reading [...]

Genius at work.

Surrounded by books, my netbook and a cup of tea and laying on the biggest and comfiest pillow known to man, is there really a better way to work? I'm currently working on the plan for my next essay, Study on the New Age and Pagan Spiritualities. It's actually not as dull as you'd think and there's a lot more to the New Age and Paganism than weird "hippies" worshipping crystals and believing in karma - the history and philosophy behind it is really quite fascinating. I'll be sure to post something Continue reading [...]

Milliband strikes! Or maybe not…

Good afternoon fellow readers, how are you doing? I actually put off writing this blog until today as I thought the contents of the Trinity ramble may have fried your brains, if you'd read it. Even if not, I just thought I'd give a quick analysis (wrong word perhaps?) of this week's Labour victory in the Oldham by-election. I actually feel quite guilty. Being a member of the Lib Dems I get invited to all sorts of meetings and really cool things of the political type, one such thing included Continue reading [...]

God, Jesus and the paternity argument that ended in divorce.

Good afternoon to you all, and I believe Happy New Year is in order? Yes indeed, this is my first blog post of 2011 and what better way to kick off the New Year with a very inspiring and interesting ramble of the philosophical type! I must concede, that it is to my very good friend and fellow classmate (and philosopher) Ryan Michejew/Kisel I owe the inspiration needed to even considering writing this; so a thousand "thank you"s. I guess to all of you of reading this who couldn't care less about Continue reading [...]

Philosophical musings: Life after death

The following is an extended essay in response to the question "Only a belief in an embodied existence after death is philosophically justifiable. Discuss" for my A-level Philosophy coursework written between September '08 and January '09. The piece only attained a D grade, however, I believe this was due to the piece's deterring from the original question. I feel that the essay raised some interesting points and I wanted to share it with you. Please feel free to leave your comments. An embodied Continue reading [...]
